Considering this product has been on the market for quite some time, it’s unfortunate there hasn’t been a redesign to improve it. The problem is that most of the light concentrates in a fairly small area of your keyboard. In other words, the LEDs are in a tight cluster and that results in too narrow a focus of light. Other competing products have the LEDs in a longer array and that works better. Too bad they’re not as well made as the Kensington product.

I love this computer! I had another Vaio, but to be quite honest…it wasn’t that good. This one however is fast, and it doesn’t get scratched, it’s edges aren’t sharp… Really, it’s just amazing. Unfortunately all the media programs don’t work well with Itunes, but even the music box it comes with was awesome. Basically, I LOVE this computer!!! Did I mention it has blu-ray and comes with like a million spots for USB cables? AWESOME!!!

I bought this to replace an 8 yr. old PC that finally failed–this tiny XP box was the practical answer. I agree with the positive reviews you’ll read here, and add just a couple of things that no one has mentioned. First, the onboard Intel video has native support for screen rotation, so if you like to switch your monitor to portrait mode, you’re all set. The power switch is mounted in a way that prevents you from using this PC on its side (i.e. with the DVD drive parallel to your work surface). That’s a bit odd; I don’t like having the drive tray in a vertical orientation. The unit is quiet until the fan kicks in, then it is louder than expected. But the fan is rarely on.

We use it for browsing, email, Rhapsody, and light photo editing. For these everyday tasks it is just great. If you like XP, this is a good solution.

We LOVE our Acer netbook! What a great little computer. Even though the keyboard is compressed, I can still type very well on it, even though I am a big guy with big hands. I’ve been travelling with it and the compact size is really nice. It fits in the front zipper pocket of my American Tourister rolling carry-on bag perfectly. I bought one of those tiny little miniature mice for it and that was a good investment. So far, no problems with the computer and I would recommend it to anyone needing an inexpensive, compact computer that still has plenty of horsepower.

Does the upgrade from 1GB to 2GB really help in multitasking? I don’t think so! When I open Google Chrome, MSN, thunder(a chinese downloading software) and some other applications in the background, the RAM usage never go beyond 1 GB, but the CPU(Intel Atom N270) is just the weak one that slows all things down. When I try to do the same thing on my old notebook (Celeron M1.73Ghz, 1GB RAM, Intel GMA950), the performance is much better. So the multitasking performance never depends on the memory only, but on CPU, even if you have the strongest Corsair DDR3 4GB memory, it does not make any difference, because the CPU just sucks! And the graphic performance is also no match to my old notebook even they have the same graphic cards. Well, the netbook is not for much multitasking or gaming, this memory is useless per se. I don’t recommend you buy it. It only improves your performance psychologically. Understand?

This product is not perfect. The docking station works if I boot the computer with the docking station plugged in. If you unplug the docking station and then plug it back in, it does not seem to work(monitor does not work). So you have to reboot the computer if you want the docking station to work 100%. I tried a few other products and this one seems to work the best. I tried the Toshiba docking station and I thought that product was terrible.

I just love this little guy, fairly powerful and yet amazingly light. At less than 2 lbs (1.56lb) and a 5.6″ screen w/full QWERTY keyboard it’s a winner! It has a 40GB HD and 1GB DDR too. Powerful enough to run Windows Vista, Office, etc…no problems at all. 802.11b/g as well as BT but only one USB 2.0 port. No DVD drive! Built-in webcam at 1.3megapixels plus a headphone jack. With the arrival of this new addition, I’ll be selling my OQO tomorrow.
